SF says there isnt and its all a load of shit.
I say that there is and its just a case of finding them.

Sounds like the title of a song by that Beckingfield girl. Personally, my feeling is that there ought to be a soulmate for everone but some guys/gals are lucky enouigh to find 2-3 or even more during their life time. By the law of averages, some may therefore find nobody.

Sounds like the title of a song by that Beckingfield girl. Personally, my feeling is that there ought to be a soulmate for everone but some guys/gals are lucky enouigh to find 2-3 or even more during their life time. By the law of averages, some may therefore find nobody.
even the hardened of people that dont believe there is someone out there for them,something is always there that makes them keep trying to find "the one"...just incase.

From my experience, I thought that yes, I did find my soulmate, but, later, I found out that yes, she was, but, i had another soulmate waiting for me...
Now people will start judging me for this, but, I never cared anyway...
It all comes down to self conviction; if one is satisfied with one and isnt looking around, then one is the number...
But, all of a sudden, the lightning will strike where and when it is highly unexpected, and it is unexpected, and one will discover that they have a lot of love inside them...

I'm going to go with a "no" there pet.
It seems to me we meet people and are attracted to them for a number of reasons. Sometimes that means nothing because we cant feel relaxed with them or they just don't seem interested in us. If the signals go both ways though and we "click" with them then usually we drop our defenses little by little, we don't even know it's happening often. This leads to a gradual increase in physical intimacy (usually when the female human is satisfied that the male is a good choice and she has him in a place where he won't run away or emotionally hurt her after sex or use it against her).
Remember not so long ago (before contraception but a blink in terms of human evolution) a womans intuition about a guy was very important, if she became pregnant to a guy who wasn't part of a good social group she wouldn't benefit from his protection and the protection of his group. So women look for value in men, Will he bring home bacon? Will his friends offer me protection if he isn't around? Is he going to be loyal to me? This was a life or death choice for a woman. Is it any wonder women evolved such elegant social skills or invest so much time building social networks? I don't mean the above in a derogatory way to women in any way.
The thing is that it's not unique, there are people who are just attractive to almost everybody because of who they are and also people who attract no one.
As for emotional connection...in poker there is a term "pot committed", a player puts a lot of his chips into a pot and hence gains an irrational attachment

Seriously though strong emotional bonding offers both partners the oppertunity to gain through an exchange of "value". A woman might get a chap with a nice physique meaning he was a great hunter and a bloke would get a woman with a nice set of breasts and hips perfect for making babies to keep his genetic traits alive. A strong emotional bond, to an exclusive extent in this situation would be beneficial to both which is perhaps why we have this concept of a "soul mate". It's you who makes the relationship special and binding as you fall in love with someone
