Is there much in the way of high quality fabrication in the UAE?

I noticed there are some custom bike building shops in Dubai ; and presume there are custom car building/modifying shops too.

So is there a thriving fabrication industry over there for hobby/leisure activities?

What about fabrication for Oil & Gas, I presume they have top notch welders and equipment , utilizing the latest technology? Any Western welders or is everything done by South & South East Asians?

Don't know exactly what you want, but go speak to Mark here
Saluki Motorsport they do "Western Standard" stuff - he's also rather good at the various Rallys held here.

Oh I left that part of the world looong ago. Here in the US, I've been getting into welding and machining so I was curious whether individuals or small groups of hobbyists in that part of the world are as into buildings things as people in the West are. With all the construction going on, the plethora of expensive vehicles / recreational vehicles and the UAE trying to nurture an art-scene and culture I wondered if people engaged in such labor , for personal fulfillment.

There is this: https://www.originbase.com/

I've been meaning to check them out for some time. Maybe, as some have suggested I really ought to do, they can help me handle my wood at home myself rather than paying others to sort it.

I'm taking wood refinishing class at the local technical college right now. The Instructor has his own business and is quite experienced .

Been away for Mother Scamp's 60th. Sunday was the big day, she did me a favour by going out to watch the football.
