Is there any doubt who are the real heroes?
Of the many aeroplanes which landed in the UK today, there are two of interest. One aeroplane carried a load of vastly overpaid so-called footballers, the other carried the bodies of 7 British soldiers
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...riated-UK.html Those so-called footballers sneaked out of the airport, quite fittingly, although to be honest nobody seemed to be in the least bit interested in welcoming them back. How many times have we seen the word 'hero' applied to footballers and other sportsmen/women whose acts aren't exactly heroic, merely noteworthy? The word 'hero' is bandied around far too often in my opinion. RIP lads. |

Re: Is there any doubt who are the real heroes?
well said.
does anyone know what happened to Wootton Bassett getting a royal charter or some such thing? The fact that that town stops everytime the troops come home gives me some hope for the future of the UK |

Today is also the 96th Anniversary of the day the Accrington Pals went over the top at the Somme. Accrington was the smallest town to send a Pal Regiment and over half of the lads didn't come back. My home town does not have too much to be proud of but this is one day we call all be proud to say we come from Accrington.
These men were true heros. The country said they were needed and they followed the call and made the untimate sacrifice Lest we forget. Mike |

Same in Australia, far too much wrongly placed emphasis in calling football (i.e., Rugby league or Aussie rules) players "heroes". |

OK, the Daily Wail isn't good for much but this seems to illustrate my original point yet again:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-duds-won.html Sorry, Eva |
