Thailand holiday tips (again)

Appreciate that there has been threads about this, but I can't search, and the info may have updated..

Am off to Thailand in early december to Phuket with the family to do the Laguna Phuket triathlon. Now, we only plan to stay at the resort for 5 days, then we are going to hit another island to chill for a week or so. Last year we went to Koh Samui, which we loved but would love to try something else. Criteria: lovely hotel, nice beach, child friendly, and being scottish--cheap!

Thanks

We were in Khao Lak last year, very nice place. It didn't seem as 'touristy' as other places. It's around 30-45 minute drive from Phuket.

La Flora hotel was very good - http://www.lafloraresort.com/sitemap.html

Kho Phi Phi is amazing, proper amazing, really small though, but deffo worth a few nights mate.

I spent a month at Phuket, stay away from the bit whrere all the hookers and irish bars are (although thats where I was...),

to be fair any of the islands are brilliant, and all cheap as well.

man, i just looked at phi phi...pretty stunning. Are there luxury hotels there. We will be basically just be chilling with my little girl, so nightlife is not really an option apart from restaurants..

I am going to Ko Phi Phi in early December!

Staying a few nights at a generic backpacker place with pool and views of the water. Wont' be the best location on the island, but as long as it's small and I can walk around, I don't mind hiking to a good beach.

We are staying for two nights at a more upmarket place called Phi Phi the Beach Resort. http://www.phiphithebeach.com/home.html

About 400 AED for the night for a basic room without sea view.

then that's the bunny for you mate, I went before the Tsuanami wiped the whole place out, so it's built up again, but it's proper paradise, give it a go, I'd love to go back again.
