The Tempest
A traffic cone flew past a friend's window on the Corniche in AD. She loves on the 18th floor!

Re: The Tempest
We got sent home from work 2 hours ago (Dubai World Central) because of that storm front heading towards Dubai from AD.

Re: The Tempest
There's windows fallen out of residential buildings on reem Island in AD too. I've also heard sheikh zayed road is closed!

southbound from dock gate 7/8 was a car park. Northbound until you hit JLT was empty. Lot of streams crossing the road which gave people a nice scare.

Re: The Tempest
Al Reeam has no traffic lights and looks a mess.

Re: The Tempest
The only day living next door to the office is a disadvantage. No excuse to go home.
That and my boss is an utter workaholic and would stay here if his house was on fire because it's so important (read; it's not). |
Re: The Tempest
Yet another reason why working from home is great! (I also looked at a weather forecast yesterday and rescheduled meetings.)
Our villa doesn't flood or leak but many friends are having problems across Dubai. Collapsed ceilings in JAV, flooding across AR, JVT, JVC and more. Power cuts too. Cancelled a night out with friends as we all decided it was a bit foolish to be out in silly weather this evening with the idiot drivers. Photos of floods etc are cool but taking snaps and video on a phone whilst you are driving is moronic. |

A bit gutted I missed the storm though. |
Re: The Tempest
This place is SO ill-equipped to handle a bit of water that it's not even funny. I would have thought with the sea right next door, a bit more thinking would have gone into city planning etc but, ah well, yanni everything will be fine inshallah!
