Plus, you CAN hail a taxi in Singapore. Taxis are not allowed to stop to pick up (or drop off) passengers in certain areas, but outside of those it's fine.

I'm not sure they've lived in Singers either, most of the time it's quicker to go outside and stick your arm out. The only place they can't stop is the CBD where it's a complete pain in the arse.
