Fruit and vegetables are plentiful, including souds.

Re: Tattie question

I've found potatoes everywhere in Riyadh. But only one type: large and white. Good for pretty much anything. Surprisingly the sacks sold at the side of the road look better than what's sold in the major supermarket. I'd thoroughly recommend washing everything you get though. Even the prepared trays. Hopefully there will be no issues with their water supply they use too clean the crops off. Back in Zim there was a cholera outbreak due to roadsellers blocking their toilets to wash off the crud (then unblocking for the next load of fresh water) so they looked nice for sale........

I'm always amazed that potatoes are actually grown in Saudi -- and in sufficient quantities for export.

Re: Tattie question

Saudi has a very varied climate. If you doubt me, spend your next holiday in Baha, Bisha or Abha.

Potatoes are imported to KSA but there is a preferntial tariff to protect locally-grown spuds.

As for the "experts" down at the Saracen's Head, everyone has an uncle who used to work in KSA.
