I think that both are abusive though. If it's so important, let the child decide for him or herself to do it when they can weigh up the arguments... oh, wait, yeah. I can't imagine many grown men lining up to get circumcised - the prospect of a vasectomy has them wincing and flinching and that's keyhole surgery!
Anyhow, in a roundabout kind of way, this still links up to betrayal... a betrayal of trust. I once saw a woman post (paraphrasing) "My son is mine to do with as I want. I made his body, so I have no problem having him circumcised"... really?!

The removal of 20,000 healthy nerve endings that are more sensitive than your lips isn't going to be low on the scale of intrusiveness...and the issue is that it's done to children below the age of consent - if someone over 18 wants to do that good luck to them.
