Coming right on the tail end of the Saville debacle, the Socialist Workers Party (damn commies!) are in the opening throws of meltdown. It might be interesting to note the Independent referred to their internal complaints/disciplinary panels (where the SWP tell their members the police and courts aren't for them as historically biaised against them) has been semantically associated with Islamic Sharia courts.

The Stalinist practices of the SWP, in particular to stifle all the credible claims of sexual harassment and worse against their leader, have been well known and covered in the likes of the Guardian for almost 10 years now. I guess the Saville thing has reignited it. SWP and "Respect" are mainly the same thing anyway so Sharia seems appropriate.

WRP dissolved out of the same subject I believe. I've seen another woman just resign from the SWP saying as a result of transcripts she's found out an ex-partner who abused her (unsure if sexually or violently) has been let back into the SWP after a 6 month 'sentence'.

Other female activists are attacking other parties that are trying to distance themselves from the SWP, stating that the mysogeny amongst the left is threaded throughout them all.

At this point, those of us who hold equality and fairness within our minds within our society but weren't members of these organisations due to their practises and ideology are now sat waiting for them all to turn on each other, or hopefully, the police go in and do what is necessary. But without official victim complaints they will not act. And the victims have been talked out of police complaints it appears by the senior members of the cult of personality.

As an ex-SWP member, I am shocked at this case. I am particularly shocked that people like Alex Callinicos allowed it to happen. But I do feel that the party has been doomed for some time. The world has changed and the SWP failed to address that change.

Apparently local groups have been voting to hold an emergency conference to discuss the situation. I haven't heard if the votes have been counted up yet or the results of such, but I'm more surprised 'Comrade Delta' hasn't been suspended until the outcome of the conference meet considering the inflammatory situation.
