Re: Sweet and Sour Pork Balls
I am over Brindian food and would much rather have butter chicken than its pale imitator chicken tikka masala and other things in gloopy gravy.

The Indian sub continent is fricking huge, saying its all too spicy is like comparing icelandic fermented shark meat to italian anti pasti.
in other words utter bollocks

Made me laugh when two Indians on my previous project refused to eat the Korean food because it was too spicy...they opted for Moroccan.

Is that ridiculously cheap but amazing place in Satwa still going? Ravis or something...plastic chairs and tables, 1 Dirham for a curry...IIRC.

Ravi's is still there but the prices have gone up a little. For cheap and cheerful and also delicious I like Paratha King and Bombay Chowpatty. Also Biryani Pot which is a little more expensive but utterly delicious.

That's it - enough talk about food, I'm off to the kitchen to make butter chicken ... but only because I have no idea where to buy 'glow in the dark orange' sweet and sour pork balls here in Muscat

Having eaten my way through plates of shit across a fair bit of India, I would say that if you want a decent curry then what you actually want is a Pakistani curry.
The exception being biryiani in Hyderabad as that is pure gold
The best curries are still from the bangla's and Pakis in the UK IMHO

Most "Indian" restaurants in the UK are actually ran by Bangladeshi's... also known at East Pakistani's...

So have we agreed that UK style sweet and sour pork balls are only available in the poshest restaurants? For what its worth, there is a Chinese next to Sana Department Store in Karama which does an excellent sweet and sour fish fillet for 35 dibs.
