Super cycle lanes- a waste of 23million

One for our cycling enthusiasts, possibly Boris making well a Boris, seems like 23million has been wasted on uninforced posh cycle lanes.

I've not heard much of Boris since he's been Major and I hated Ken, any idea if hes been ballsing it up?

well he's probably still ROTFL-ing after tricking people with his no-more-CC-promise.

I'd say its a waste of money if they aren't enforced. Driving in London you'll go in any lane you can unless you're going to get fined so not quite sure of the point. I always wanted to cycle round London but was terrifeid of getting squished by black cabs and lorries so this wouldn't encourage me its any safer.

A whole bunch of fools voted on the basis of one issue and one issue only: anti CC.

Like I said all along- it was a con. The CC contract isn't up for renegotiation every time the mayor changes.

If the cycling mega-lane laws aren't enforced, it's a waste.
So we should scrap them?

If the anti-rape laws aren't enforced, they're a waste.
Judging by the statistics, the anti-rape laws are all-too-often disregarded. It's a disgusting state of affairs.
So we should scrap those laws?

sevenseas- no but they they fine you if you travel in a buslane so why not if you drive in a cycle lane?

They are fine if you travel in a bus lane=?

Cyclists are allowed in bus lanes,
So why aren't motorists allowed to drive in bicycle lanes?

Re: Super cycle lanes- a waste of 23million

motorists are only allowed in certain bus lanes at certain times in London otherwise you get a big fat fine. The whole red route thang.

If I was a cyclist in London I wouldn't want to ride in a bus lane- the bus drivers overtake with mm to spare!

I know- it's amazing and scary at the same time.

All this is because cities were planned with cars/petrol consumption in mind.

Not people, not community, not life.

London was designed back when your vehicle's horsepower was measued in actual horses...

I didn't mind cycling in bus lanes in London, but you have to ride at least 2m from the kerb for it to be safe.
