Sunday Morning...

Interesting day/night last night, bumping into a couple of BE people in the Red Lion...

WHINGE ALERT

My sinuses are ****ed. I've come down with the worst snottiness and sinus pain I've had in years and my eyes are streaming.

Guy at work says it's the weather and the sand/dust in the atmosphere. Does anyone else suffer with allergies out here? What do you do to mitigate/relieve it?

Loads of folk seem to get ill when the weather changes here.

Mitigate by staying in your hotel room watching TV and ordering room service.

my younger one has almost the same problem which flares up with dust
we had to get a steam machine
3 times a day will usually keep it down

Take some sinus tablets?

It's blowy and shitty out there today and most people seem to get the cold / illness / blocked up when they come over and aren't used to AC + Dust maybe.

Can't take anything with pseudophedrine in it because I'm taking other stuff, and have also had irregular heartbeat issues.

Got some spray and paracetemol at the pharmacy on the Palm (fun getting there and back from the RARA site) and it's helped a bit. Woman from my company told me it's going to go on a few days though. Great. Suggested I get an air purifier.

I would suggest not worrying about all that humidifier / purifier guff. Just deal with it for a few days as part and parcel of the AC / Dust issue. You've landed at a shitty time by the looks of it out the window.

Spray will probably help though. Hopefully it clear up quickly

Cheers. I hope so. I could always put a surgical mask on...

However in the past five years it's come back, all year round on and off. In the last two years it's also given me "coughing asthma" one a year (which is fun when you want a good nights sleep) and the doc spotted polyps around my sinuses at my last check up.

The air quality is abysmal now in this region from mass construction, industry, traffic, power generation plus the usual dust.

Try Claritine - that usually helps. And if you can, get allergy tested to see what the causes are so you can avoid it.

Pseudoemphadrine is it not?

Had allergy test ages ago and dust mites was my big one. Apparently the fine dust is a trigger for people like me. It feels like a cold without the sore throat. Never mind, trying the medicinal route tonight with a couple of whiskies.

Get cetrizine, you only need one a day and it does work, it is NOT pseudoephedrine so shouldn't cause problems.

I take that and I use flixonase spray. I think it's actually a cold now. An absolute stinker.
