Women driver at it again.

An entire family has perished as a result of a grave mistake by a lady driver on SZR this weekend. A Jordanian woman parked her car right in the middle of the road on Sheikh Zayed motorway after it suffered from a tyre puncture. She ignored the driver’s warning to take her car off the road and fix the tyre on the hard shoulder area.

Unfortunately a driver who was passing through that area had warned the woman to instantly take her car off the road but that she did not listen.

Call it her ignorance, 4 innocent soul paid with their life including a 9-month-old baby boy. Another woman in the car was said to be seriously wounded.

Well RTA cannot put in extra parameters for women to check their presence of mind during crisis situation while driving, its all about being responsible drivers.

Next up, is the poster going to try using a 'local culture norms' defense? Will people pop up out of the woodwork to defend it, implying all manner of misogynistic 'laws of nature'?

I've been commenting on this elsewhere and whilst I was angry to start with, it now makes me feel depressed. Depressed that people really can be such tools.

Bored of reading this board?

I think they suck the life out of the Reddit frontpage nowadays more than anywhere else. Everything on a platter for them, complete with hundreds/thousands of comments with upvotes to help them pick their bylines.

7Days have got it - and also posted some of the comments.

Igrar Aliyev wrote: “Do not be so anti-woman brother, some guys make even worse mistakes, do you remember the big accident during the fog on Abu Dhabi - Dubai road? How you drive depends on your proficiency and attention not on your gender... Salam!”

Responding to Aliyev’s comment, Subaru Emirates said: “Not anti-women bro, just pointing out few facts. Now we cannot ignore this fact the accident happened due to women driver carelessness.”

Luvena Rangel added: “Subaru Emirates - I don’t think Subaru should be selling cars to women then.. This is a very prejudiced post. If your timeline highlights accidents, they shouldn’t be profiling the 'gender' of the cause of the highlights. Awareness should be about driving discipline & educating all drivers, not segregating what you think to be a standard "women" driver instance.”

Khalisah Khalousy Eves said: “Absolutely! I cannot respect a company who turns a tragic accident into a moment to make an irrelevant, sexist remark. Seriously unprofessional.” When Derryl D Souza accused Subaru Emirates of gender bias, Subaru Emirates replied: “Hi Derryl D Souza with due respect, we are sorry if you are offended, we respect women. This news is for general awareness. We have been posting news about accidents that happen due to rash/drunk/overspeeding/carelessness, which do not involve women drivers.

“We only intend to convey the message how gruesome it could be if we are not responsible drivers (male/female). In this case we cannot deny the fact a woman driver was involved. If you check our timeline I am sure you will see why we highlight accidents that could have been averted if drivers acted responsibly. Here, a quick presence of mind- knowing the fact how traffic moves on SZR could have saved four innocent life (including a 9-month old baby). Another driver who almost missed hitting this stationary car had warned her of the danger to others. The caution part is satire that applies to all amateur drivers. Ultimately for Subaru, safety is the prime factor… and the safety of all.”

Facebook users reported the post to the Subaru Global page. When 7DAYS contacted the dealer Al Adiyat Automobiles in Abu Dhabi, which owns the Subaru Emirates page, a spokesman said he was not aware of the post. Later, he confirmed that an outsourced PR representative had written the post.

He told 7DAYS: “He is in India. He did not mean it for all women, just that woman. They have promised me they will delete the post and make an apology.” The post was deleted on Sunday and replaced with an apology. However, readers raged on even after the post was deleted.

One said: “The main point is it's really disrespectful to the people who died in the accident, that the focus be on the sex of the driver who caused the accident. It's OK to point out it was a female driver (stating facts) but not ok to post rhetoric such as the female driver was "at it again". Grow up.”
Un****ingbelievable! But that's the Indian way of not respecting women - anyone recall the furore about the Scandinavian woman's rape and the "If that happened in India" comment?

They deserve to lose their business if they hire, "an outsourced PR representative in India"
