I wish the gators would eat our help desk, if they spent half as much time trying to get my ******* JDE back up and running rather than sending emails at 15 min intervals to tell us nothing's working we might be a bit further forward, also have to add being awake and at your work doesn't make you a priority user, wtf

Got this from a mate in Brisbane............
RE: Floods............
Thanks,
Much appreciated. Just got power back when the electricity company turned the substations back on after the water subsided. We were fine here - on James Island. I live in Jindalee which was one of the hardest hit suburbs - but it was only water and my house is on top of a hill. We didn't get the inland tsunami that Toowoomba and Ipswich got. They got hammered! That's what killed people. We just got a very gradual rise in water from the Brisbane River (because our defensive dam was at 190%. 200% = gameover). The place stinks of stagnant poo-water but everyone I know is fine. The neighbourhood is covered in brown sludge but the effect in terms of bringing the community closer together has been great - strangers everywhere are helping each other. There's also plenty of young girls in wellington boots, bikini tops and short-short-shorts. Most people will be back at work on Monday. The sad part is that many of the homes that went under were flooded in 1974, so they don't have insurance.
A mate of mine in the next suburb had me round last night for some cold beer (praise the lord!) and some rugby highlights from 2010. It was awesome - just what I needed.
Thanks again for your email- it means a lot.
