Anyone used this before? I've just finished day 3, tomorrow I start 2 half dose pills a day before going onto full fat next week. Felt very weird the first day, and in the last two days I've smoked a little less. I'm supposed to pick a day next week (day 8 - 15) of the treatment so going for Tuesday. But still not feeling right after such a small time on the drug. Not having suicidal thoughts or any of the wilder side effects, but it's a bloody strange feeling.

Anyone else tried it?

I lasted two weeks before the wife demanded i start smoking again. The first week I had very very vivid dreams, some really really good , some bad.

In week two I turned into angry man. My mrs dared to walk in front of the TV whilst I was watching it and for some reason I blew my top. Spoke to the nurse, she said that its normal as they affect your behavioral mechanisms or something........

Im still smoking but at least Im still married.... Theres reasons why some people cant take it, i thought it was all bull, apparently not.

An old housemate of mine used it. He still smoked as many cigarettes but he tended to stub them out half way through. It shafted his sleep up and became even more irritable than normal which is saying something.

He quit the tablets in the end and is still a happy smoker.

I used to read that on the toilet before the advent of games/facebook/news etc on mobile phones. I just found him highly irritating and it seems to be written in an american brain wash style..

I gave up completely about a year ago . It took me about three years before that to get to the point where that would be possible . By this I mean that I slowly lowered the amount I was smoking and stuck to it . Ten a day to seven a day to five a day . Two or three a day and a few more at weekends. Not smoking till I got home form work . One a day and more at the weekend . Not smoking for four days in the week . Two or three a day at the weekend . And finally none at all . It all takes a lot of willpower but after a while you stop thinking about it . Then you have to deal with a lot of firsts like being absolutely plastered and not smoking etc . I did it with no patches drugs ect . Like it says in Alan Carr's book - you have to want to stop . If you do you can . It's hard for sure but it can be done . You do notice an immediate change in your health too which is an incentive .

Used to smoke 20+ a day in the 90's. I used Nicotinell gum to give up as patches etc. weren't around. It worked for me but the only thing is that you get addicted to the gum so I progressed onto normal mint gum which was much cheaper and I eventually weaned myself off that habit too. Good luck - it's not easy but worth it!

I started smoking at 11 years old
I gave up 3 years ago...cold turkey..it was fine.You just have to understand that you get a huge brainwash when you feel that you have to have a cigarette... but it goes after about a minute...if you can just last that long, it goes away and as the days pass, then the craving gets less.
You just have to bite the bullet. Taking drugs really doesn't help..it just masks the addiction.
The only thing that will work is ..if you truly want to give up.

Once used Zyban for a couple of weeks, almost lost my job. Had some baaaaaaad side effects. Went to my doc and he said, "yeah, it's not unlike LSD, isn't it?" Although obviously not with the fun parts.

Can't believe you only smoked for 10 years.......

True words though unless you truly want to give up it will always be a problem. I can give up for 14 hours on a plane with no problem, I also believe the day I wake up and hate the 1st cigarette of the day I will stop.

How/why did you all start smoking? I've never even had a puff of a cigarette - when I was a teenager, the smokers were seen as lonely losers trying to look big............ there was a massive sporting culture at school and I suppose many lads didn't want to jeopardise their places in the team.

Don't give up smoking...become a non-smoker. Big difference in mind set.

I became a non-smoker 20 years ago and have never looked back, I can't cause I'm too fat to turn my head!

I reckon the only way you can be successful is to actually want to quit and then by sheer willpower. If you don't want to, you are unlikely to be successful. I read part of that Alan Carr book some years ago and it just annoyed me.

Good luck Brains. I suggest keeping away from other smokers for a while and out of places where you normally smoke. Break the habit that way for starters.
