Stinky Singapore
Not sure about the truth of this report but it certainly tarnishes the image of the Lion City, if true...

Re: Stinky Singapore
Dirty habits in public-housing block lifts?
No different to public-housing in the UK or many other places then. And something most visitors or expat residents will ever see since they live in private housing or hotels.

Re: Stinky Singapore
But there is masses and masses of public housing in Singapore, and an increasing number of Western expats living in them.
That said, I've never found Singapore a particularly clean place anyway - despite the reputation and the shopping malls (which aren't cleaner than Dubai's anyway).
Still a great place though. Got back from there this morning

Re: Stinky Singapore
It's 12 months since I moved out, but I never once met an expat who lived in an HDB when I lived there.
There's not a lot of litter, but that's mainly because of the old boys collecting it up to pay for their grub and a big bottle of lager to pass out in the hawker with.

yep , used to live on the 17th floor of a block in the UK and the lift was always used as a toilet . Don't see why it would be any different in Singapore .

Re: Stinky Singapore
You can get the lash in Singapore, not sure if for having your bits out though.
I can think of four different expat friends living in HDBs. It was rarer when I lived there in 2006 though I did know one couple in one (and without a/c!) - but the prices have got ridiculous there.

Re: Stinky Singapore
just moved after 4.5 years there and I knew a few expats who lived in HDB apartments. some now choose that option due to the ridiculous rents in Singapore.
