Oh absolutely yes! This is something that will follow her the rest of her life, in a bad way that is, while a kid will also follow you the rest of your life, not necessarily in a bad way

Yeah, just like (parts of) what is now France, Germany, Italy, USA, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Chili and some more we have once been conquered by the Spanish (and French, Austrians etc)

To try and recover ground a little, I learned of this Iberian colonization thing from reading "The Ascent of Money" (they did a tv docu of this earlier this year) - thoroughly recommendable book. You Dutchies can also take credit for the invention of the Joint Stock Company.... extrapolating this a little, you can also take responsibility for the credit crunch...
