Soton
Another geographical one...this time for Scamp.
Eldest son's there for a few days, counting beans. Any recommendations for good restaurants and boozers?
Cheers

Re: Soton
Marina area (Ocean Village);
Banana Wharf
Pitcher and Piano - great steak baguette and happy hour I think.
Bedford Place;
More night clubs and bars but Orange Rooms is my hands down favourite. Decent grub and good bar stocked with good drinks, worth staying there all night if he wants to get lashed up.
Other usual places; Vodka Revs etc all nearby to this.
Oxford Street;
Not far from Ocean Village.
Nice street, lots of restaurants and bars.
London Hotel at the bottom is a gay pub, it's good fun and a laugh but worth knowing before wandering in.
Valentines down there does a fantastic fry up, lunch sarnies and is bizarrely, newly licensed. Run by a couple of nice chaps.
The Grapes - good old fashioned boozer.
White Star - nice bar. Older crowd.
Cargo (I tihnk it's called) - nice/alright bar, deafening music though.
Couple of good restaurants down there too, Thai, Spanish, Bistros etc. Oxford Brasserie is nice, think there's a Mexican or a Brazilian too which is meant to be good.
Sort of depends where he's staying - do you know?
West Quay's worth a wander round but knowing what malls can be like living here, it's a ****ing huge disappointment nowadays.
