Re: sorry, no petting allowed....
people that have made that rule want their heads banging together..
I can understand it for new tenants, but you can't enforce those rules when existing tenants/owners have been allowed them

All this wowing makes me wanna puke.
Are they applying it across the board, or is it only the pets from the subcontinent?

Re: sorry, no petting allowed....
I very much doubt that this was the case or there would have been no justification for such a public complaint...more likely just another arbitrary rule change (like the gyms, beach park etc.) by a shoddy organisation with a Middle Ages mentality.

Re: sorry, no petting allowed....
It was pretty clear when I moved in that pets were not allowed... like nearly every rule in Dubai though, it wasn't enforced and people flouted it with gay abandon. Not any more though.

Re: sorry, no petting allowed....
You'll probably find that pets are officially banned in most apartment blocks in Dubai, but that doesn't stop people keeping them. You're only going to get found out if your animals make noises that alert neighbours, or you take them outside your front door.
Dogs are the real problem because even a well-trained dog will bark every so often and of course you have to take them for walks. Cats, rabbits, guinea pigs etc don't really make noise and don't need to be let out in public.
I bet this is really more about getting rid of dogs than anything else. The dog park isn't happening now, so they want to get dogs out of the way before they end up with complaints about dog crap in public areas or on the beach.
I hope the residents take this all the way, though. If they invested their money years ago on the understanding that pets were allowed and indeed welcomed (as you'd kind of expect, given the existence of the dog park on the plans), Dubai Properties can't now say "Oh, sorry, we've changed our minds". According to a friend who lives in Al Bahar 1 (and who doesn't like animals, but doesn't think it's fair to force residents to get rid of them) there are a lot of angry residents who can muster a fair bit of wasta.

A rather contradictory post if you don't mind me saying. You open with a rather assuming statement that pets are banned.De Facto that is -it seems-the case in this particular development and is written up thus in the tenancy
agreements. You then incite the residents to action- against the rules........oooooh you do have your wild moments Wolfe Smith!
Different if it was a retropective application of the law .

Re: sorry, no petting allowed....
And as far as other apartment blocks are concerned, everyone I know who lives in an apartment and keeps pets is quite candid that officially, pets are banned in their block. As long as they're discreet, though, there's no problem. Same deal as co-habiting.
Actually, no, bad example - co-habiting is an actual crime, not just a violation of building policy. Get caught co-habiting and you're facing jail and deportation; that's not going to happen to anyone caught with a pet cat in their apartment.
You then incite the residents to action- against the rules...
I say that I hope the residents will take this all the way - they're clearly planning to fight this and the inciting has been done by Dubai Properties, by letting people buy apartments in JBR on the understanding that pets were going to be allowed, and then changing their minds later. Look through the JBR Community forum, there is a huge amount of real anger about this.
After all, wouldn't you rather assume that the presence on the plans of a JBR Dog Park meant that dogs were allowed?

Or maybe you've just had a few too many?

Um... according to JBR management, they are, aren't they? Otherwise, what are pet owners in JBR getting so het up about?

Where do I "incite" anything?

Nothing wrong with the spacing in my post - "guinea pig" renders as "guinea pig". Must be weirdness in the way the page is displaying on your screen.

Sorry, going with the majority here, you are tedious.
Why do you always fall back on the 'few too many' line?
