Re: Sofas
If you do find something you like have a scan round the usuals before you buy it. Years ago we found one we like and it was in 3 -4 stores and the price varied massively.

Re: Sofas
Frankly Mission, I'm glad you've started this thread.
We've been looking for flipping ages. Can't find anything that's just right.
Crate and Barrel are probably the best option I think.
Home Centre - too cheap and generally a bit naff.
Homes R Us - similar I think.
Marina - who wants a gold sofa made from plastic and with metal feet?
The One - see Marina.
West Elm - good option I think, worth a look.
Potty Barn - lovely leather sofas in there IIRC.
There's a real dearth of places that flog nice, non ostentatious furniture.
Leather - I haven't look for personally but think Potty Barn had some because I tried it I think....
If you see any deep, nice material ones then shout.
Oh God. I've just realised it's Mission.
You'll never buy a new sofa will you. This thread will go for years.

Crate and Barrel are probably the best option I think. I wasn't aware Crate & Barrel did 'big furniture' - i always thought they were more along the nik naks kind of things - will check it out
Home Centre - too cheap and generally a bit naff.agreed
Homes R Us - similar I think. agreed
Marina - who wants a gold sofa made from plastic and with metal feet? stuff in here is SO damn araby - majority of it is so gawdy and damn expensive - a case of more money and no style
The One - see Marina.
West Elm - good option I think, worth a look.never heard of this, where is it?
Potty Barn - lovely leather sofas in there IIRC.what/where is IIRC??

Mission...leather sofas...mmmm, the excitement!
Now in my head for the rest of the day is Grace Jones irresistibly spitting out:
"Warm leatherette"
The way she gets her tongue around that word...

Re: Sofas
Yes, Crate and Barrel do some nice stuff, some can be pricey mind. But generally among the best you can get here.
Agree on Marina.
West Elm is downstairs in Dubai Mall not far from Waitrose, near HSBC. Think it's part of same group as Crate or Potty maybe. More reasonable though.
IIRC - if I recall correctly.

Just make sure they have sturdy lashing points.

Re: Sofas
The left field choice - head down to Al Quoz, behind Oasis Mall, there are a load of furniture warehouses, distressed leather sofas that last 10 years (from experience) AED4,000.
No, I can't recall the name or the exact places but there are loads around there.

Re: Sofas
I bought 2 sofas off 'deal of the week' on the Home Centre website for our family room, unseen. 1500 each. Fabric though. A moment of anxiety when delivered but they go perfectly.
