Default Social Events in Riyadh?

This is my second year of working in Riyadh as a Teacher.I Know the city quite well and have made some good friends.

HOWEVER, I want to know what social events are happening this year in Riyadh aside from embassy parties! Did lots of socialising last year but am keen to try some different events. Always happy to meet new and friendly people to have a laugh and chat with.

Hi i am new in Riyadh and still living in a hotel while looking for an apartment/compound. Living in a hotel doesn't make it easy to meet people as i am also the only European in my company, where can i meet people? I can't just walk up to strangers in the mall.....I called the British Embassy and they were worse than useless. After 5 years in Khobar with Bahrain next door i am in severe need of some social activity which involves any forms of alcohol and conversation.

First post.

Not one to drag this one back up, but came across this post as I was browsing. From what I have heard, the British embassy hasn't had a great deal of functions/club nights as they used to. Not sure of the reason why, but from what I've been told, this may change in the near future.

I'll let you guys know what I hear from my friends.
