small British run hotel in a surfing resort. supposed to be good diving there as well. we couldnt dive as we went in off-season and the sea was too rough

....leave work on Monday, no job and no freelance at the moment that I haven't finished,
so we're thinking Dubai is an expensive place to live, I really don't fancy xmas here so.....maybe 3 weeks away?
I really fancy Thailand, I adore the place but flights and that seem dead expensive, anyone know any cheapish airlines or even somewhere I could go and chill for 3 weeks? Bali? India? Phillipines? or somewhere I haven't thought of?

Walk down the wrong alley and you'll be relieved of your belongings in the more colourful areas in Manilla.
Of course if you're staying in some plush resort or on a package tour you'll be fine...it's worth reading up on before going those. It's a fantastic country to visit and the people are very friendly and usually speak better English than in other parts of SE Asia by a longshot - but some parts can be a bit dicey.
