yeah I know a girl who had a big argument with this local arab woman at work, the women rang up the police and this girl I know was hauled down to the police station for over 8 hours before they eventually let her go with a very stuff warning,
all because this woman said she had called her 'a bad muslim' or something, she just made it up.

It seems so, its really quite worrying as you would have no chance when the whole court case will be heard in Arabic, of course you will be offered a translator, but thats tosh.
Anyway this is more about slander, which is more difficult to prove, but they will still prosecute you in the courts.

The whole Muslim thing should be avoided at all costs, any slander about Islam will not be dealt with leniently.
Generally, it just depends on the person and their level of tolerance and what they consider an insult - different cultures accept different things.

You don't have to go over the top either. For example if you called some stupid or crazy and pointed at your head to emphasise what you are saying, they could bring a case against you.
The whole Muslim thing should be avoided at all costs, any slander about Islam will not be dealt with leniently.
