One of the last of a long line of English Eccentrics (and Dean, I expect he's your avatar later), has died.

What a great bloke, brain the size of a planet, heart to go with it.

RIP Patrick.

BBC

He was only 6 years older than my father????

I really hope they name a star after him.

I met him aged 10 yrs old .....and have his autograph .....

He always struck a chord as a very very clever man.

RIP Mr Moore bless him.

Heard he was next on the saville list..

Kidding obviously, (that is allowed here nowadays is it??)

I loved this guy. I have a family friend who used to present a pretty well known channel 4 gaming show years ago and he has made some great comments about PM.

Anyone else having a private snigger to this given the current climate. No, sure, not that you'd post on here of course..

He was a showman who communicated his enthusiasms - including his love of Astronomy.

May his memory be eternal.

Not really............

The Nazis who cruelly carried out a systematic and unforgiving programme of genocide against the Jews, they had 'horrible right wing politics'.

Not Patrick Moore.

A great quote from an interview earlier this year, I don't think he likes the Europeans - and the Germans in particular.

Daily Fail

‘We must take care. There may be another war. The Germans will try again, given another chance. A Kraut is a Kraut is a Kraut. And the only good Kraut is a dead Kraut.
‘A German general said to me at the end of the war, “You won two wars. You won’t win the third. And that’s the economic war.” I hope he’s wrong.’
‘I’m no European. Why? Go to Europe and look around. The Germans tried to conquer us. The French betrayed us. The Belgians did very little and the Italians made us our ice cream.
‘Just look at the world now and look at it when we had a bigger say in it. The English are best. Stand up for England!’

No one is perfect, even the most respected of men and women have parts of their character or belief system that some may find abhorent.

Sir Patrick Moore is someone who did infinitely more good than bad (unless proven otherwise ala JS).

A supernova amongst the skywatchers.

RIP
