Single best accompaniament to turkey
We always have turkey on 25th and jolly nice roast potatoes, usually with honey-glazed roast parsnips, mashed swede, sprouts (often with bacon), extra stuffing and various other odds n sods.
Suggestions for one other accompaniament? |

Suggestions for one other accompaniament? A side dish that would loosen the knickers off a supermodel ! Maybe even throw a bit of Star Anise in there and go the full monty ;) |

Lots of alcohol - after all, turkey is such a dry and tasteless meat, give me a good ham any day of the week.

Re: Single best accompaniament to turkey
Homemade port and cranberry sauce and my homemade (chestnut, mushroom & herb) stuffing. Anything from a packet is an abomination. Also pigs in blankets.
Turkey shouldn't be dry and tasteless if you get a decent one and prepare and cook it properly. Too many people buy cheap frozen ones and then wonder why they are tasteless. |

Bread Sauce, yumm! Hate cloves so always leave them out and add another bayleaf instead. If the turkey's dry (and I know it shouldn't be) this helps soooo much.

Single best accompaniament to turkey is a slab of medium rare beef or goose (as its xmas!)
I hate turkey! |
Re: Single best accompaniament to turkey
Has to be pigs in blankets. Also redcurrant sauce.
Can't wait. It is so worth it. |
Re: Single best accompaniament to turkey
Gravy. You’ve got to smother the whole lot in nice, rich gravy surely.

Re: Single best accompaniament to turkey
More bacon and sausages. Xmas dinners only redeeming feature is the roasted pork products, proper roasted spuds aren't bad either though

And the Roasties have to be cooked in Goose fat..........

Goose is the traditional English bird at Christmas and is so much tastier. That and a nicely done gammon with mashed swede and bacon plus the usual roast spuds and Yorkshire pudding makes for a nice Christmas meal.
