Meanwhile over 100 shops have been flooded in one Dubai shopping mall by the heavy overnight rainstorm.

completely flooded with half the shops shut, you needed an umberella inside not outside!

Slight exaggeration. Little Gym and New Yorker were the only establishments shut this morning from what I could see.

Just been! Couple of patches in the "sky" where the roof looked dodgy, and a burst water main pipe outside but that was it.....

you didn't look hard enough, when we got there first thing there were shutters down all over the place and thank goodness I was wearing flip flops!

Actually I inspected over 125 affected stores. Don't forget they don't open until 10am and many shopkeepers spent an extra 45-60 minutes cleaning up. By 11am, only two premises were totally closed. Mind you, upstairs in Debenhams was still a mess. If you know anything more, please PM me. For those interested, authorisation was recently granted by the management for waterproofing work costing several millions of Dirhams to start, but they are currently awaiting Dubai Municipality approval to physically commence.
