Sharks

There seems to be a lot of dodgy, underhand, sharklike behaviour out here.

Take last night for example.

Played golf with Mr Millhouse, "I'm not very good" He said.

We agreed to 50dhs a hole (only playing the 9 hole par 3 at the Emirates)

I regretted it the minute he sunk a 15 foot putt on the first hole, and I'm currently trying to contemplate my loss of 400dhs.

Be warned.

It was more than 15 feet mate and you seem to have forgotten the 3 balls I lost and the other 8 holes where I scored 7...

Next time scampo I'll give myself time to warm up in the driving range first.

Anyway - I enjoyed it - let me know if you want to do it again.

how do you go about start playing golf? Just get a stick, book a few holes and go bash the hell out of a green?

That's what I did. I think some people have lessons... fools.

I had two lessons, added a little bit of natural talent, a shed load of ability and a lot of driving range time. Now i'm practically Tiger woods of 2003

I didn't, I had my lessons late last year and used the teachers sticks. Then, because I enjoyed it and wanted to play more, I asked Santa for my own sticks for Christmas. The knobhead didn't get me any but luckily my sister must have seen my list and got me some just in case he let me down, again.

Since then, i've taken my sticks to the driving range and to lots of par3 courses and just smashed my way round them, tearing up grass and causing a fuss. Great stuff.

I have a theory. There are two types of people in this world: upon picking up a golf club for the first time and swinging it, there are those who look like they're chopping wood, and those who don't. Give it a whirl, Kittykat, but have someone with you who you trust and who can honestly tell you which type you are--coz if you're the former, don't try again and count your lucky stars for all the money and time you're going to save and all the blisters, back-ache, frustration and long lonely walks you'll never experience.

I also have another theory. There are three types of people in this world: those who can count, and those who can't.:D

So this isn't a thread about the great white that's apparently been spotted off the south-east coast of Oman, then?

Golf is a game for people who have given up on life.
