Default Sharing my learning - Optimising your financial/tax affairs while overseas

Having just returned to Europe from ME i thought it was worth sharing my learning with this forum as this is something i should have done when i first arrived in ME rather than in the last month before i left - i could have saved myself a considerable amount of time, money and hassle.

I strongly recommend you seek reliable wealth management / tax advice from a knowledgeable registered professional ASAP after arrival in order to optimise your wealth/financial affairs while overseas. Luckily, after meeting with several different professionals i finally found a top notch guy (friend recommendation) in the eleventh hour. He saved the day for me but take my advice - DON'T wait until you are leaving to do this as it wasn't easy to find someone with the global depth and breadth of knowledge i needed that had the level of integrity i was looking for together with proven results.

Find someone you are comfortable with sooner rather than later - it should cost you nothing for a consultation (only costs when you ask them to act for you).. otherwise you may find yourself taking ill informed decisions that lead to you paying unnecessarily dearly for that hard earned dosh when you move to your next location.

Good luck and happy financial/tax/wealth optimisation!

Sorry but this post sounds like a sales pitch from yet another so-called financial adviser.

sounds to me like someone who has been ripped off and is trying to make sure the same doesn't happen to any of us Most of us are more than aware that Meow is an IFA so why be worried

Understand everyone's sceptisim but it was a genuine sharing of learning. In fact it was exactly my cautiousness against FA's that has held me back from trusting anyone in the past (not easy to find someone you feel has only your interests at heart).

Lastly, i am new to this forum, so please forgive any naivety. I didn't know Meow was a IFA (are you?) - neither am i by the way, i am a Talent and Learning Manager for a FTSE 100 company.
