They have pulled out of sponsoring an iftar over ramadan at some labour camps only giving a few days notice, the charity now need to find other companies to sponsor a camp and only have 3 days to do it.

I'm interested to find out exactly why Souq.com has pulled out (although Lola - who runs Volunteer in Dubai - says she has all the info) but it seems that yet another company is going on my boycott list.

What stance do the actual owners of these camps take to all this? Are they (I would imagine this to be the case) completely oblivious to the hardships or simply don't care.

It would be nice to hear of the companies themselves providing extra's and 'treats' along with the public and organisations such as this.

I have visited a few camps and in most cases you need the owners permission to get access. The exceptions are the ones where the poor chaps have been abandoned and unpaid.

Many owners seem to feel that they have no responsibility other than to provide a roof over their heads and the most basic of facilities so they are generally happy for others to help out. There are a few who deny access as they know they are not doing enough for their men.

There are a few honourable exceptions, where the men have reasonable facilities and are looked after properly.
