It will be interesting to see how the outside world perceive this. I like the claim of "diminished responsibility"

But what did you really expect? Justice for everyone? Fat chance. I've just read about the girl allegedly gang raped in R-A-K by six men posing as Police officers. She got five years and umpteen lashings for adultery because obviously the Shariah Court preferred to believe the men rather than the girl.

lol...after all my years in the ME, I just register it. Other than that...the usual.
I find caring about things like this and similar ones only gets my blood pressure up....and there is no reason for that as
I and all those who actually see how wrong all this is ,can't do shit about it.

Whats sad is how this 1 case elicited condemnation and some action from the US, lukewarm as it maybee, than the thousands of child slave camel jockeys.
I still can't comprehend how humans could enslave children and put them in such atrocious conditions all for entertainment of well fed adults who watch from the luxury of a shaded stadium surrounded by attendants and copious amounts of food and water.

I have spoken to young adults who actually were camel jockeys. One in particular, was sold by his Sudani parents to a Sheikh in the Middle east. He was allowed to go to school, (something that would not have happened in Sudan)absolutely LOVED being a camel jockey and got the nationality of the country. He was very upset when he was not allowed to ride anymore. Today he is a pretty successful businessman.
I am not saying that there was no abuse when it came to child camel jockeys....but still there are 2 sides to each coin.
Oh and not too long ago I went out to the camel farm, there were young boys showing off their camel riding....they could not have had a bigger smile on their faces.
Sometimes we should recognize that different cultures have very different values. I do not say we must like it.....

This might be the cases for some but what of the thousands that were kidnapped from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Mauritania and other areas of Sub Saharan Africa. On one article I read, an eyewitness mentioned knowing that over 2 dozen children had died and he couldn't guess how many died that he doesn't know about. These children are also intentionally underfed to keep them small and light. This lack of growth and nutrition will be with them forever. The children were routinely beaten also.
Slaves in America had a place to sleep and ear and not fear being killed in African ethnic conflicts, doesn't somehow make slavery less worse.
Children cloistered from the outside world , not knowing what is out there and only having camels and riding around them might just accept camel riding as normal and even get to like it. This doesn't mean it is not morally wrong and those doing the exploiting are not aware of it . After all if there was nothing especially bad about being a child camel jockey then why aren't most of the jockeys Emirati children.
I used to watch these camel races on AD TV back in the 80s and 90s. I recall now how small the jockeys were but back then when I was small, the situation just did not dawn on me.
Different cultures have different values but that is no excuse for such inhumane treatment. One could simply dismiss any behavior as cultural difference, but most people know right and wrong and what is abhorrent.

Yes, and still they do it. Heck, they even have laws allowing them to interpret things so they fit their agenda....AND?
What are you , I and the other "Westerner" are going to do about it?
Do you really still think anybody gives a rat's ass? except for the brief fame for writing some articles and making some short movies etc. about it.
Do you remember the "outrage" (mainly in the Western world...or dare I say ONLY) when the documentaries and articles about the "Dubai slaves" (workers) were on air and in newspapers?
And look at the "huge"difference it has made...lol
See, the only "outrage" you will see in the Arab world is when the Western world displeases them in some way or other...like not wanting minaretts or making a few sarcastic jokes...now THAT is unforgivable...a batallion of camel jockeys (abducted) and a few batallions of severely mistreated workers....who effing cares????
