hi all,

well I am back from sunny Thailand- have had an absolutely awesome time:thumbsup:. Bit crispy from sunburn but it wouldn't be a holiday if I didnt get burnt.

so I did loads of snorkeling but am thinking id like to give scuba a go, i know theres a few scuba buffs on here so anyone any advice on where to learn out here? any scuba groups etc? costs?

thanks kids

I'm also keen to learn (PADI Open Water) but have no idea. A bloke at work said to do the ePADI online and then the water/dive training with the dive school. Appreciate any ideas or recommendations

Whats a good beach town in Thailand, Phuket?

About a decade ago, I took 2 SCUBA classes but dropped out cause I have pressure difference in my ears which gets to be a bother in diving. I will take it up again some day...

there's loads of dive centres in the big hotels. i think they all do PADI courses, and you can do an intro course first in case you're not sure how you'll react. it's quite different from snorkeling actually and a lot more fun..

check out cobone, livingsocial and the like as they tend to have some deals on padi open water. i'm sure i saw one the other day for about 700 dibs which is very cheap..

I did my PADI in Pavilion Dive Club at JBH, they were very good. I did it over 4 or 5 days, first classroom, then pool then open water (it can be spread over successive weekends).

Al Boom on Al Wasl road also do it (did refresher there) and I suspect they are cheaper than JBH.
