The scents of Dubai & Abu Dhabi

A company has launched a range of fragrances to remind you of the cities you have visted, including ones for both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. A mere 40 Euros bottles the scent of a city for you (see E-shop on page for all cities)

http://intl.thescentofdeparture.com/

DXB - Rose, citrus & oud

AUH - Bergamot, jasmine & amber

So my question is - if you were to bottle the scent of one of these cities, what would you include? For me, Dubai - oud, schwarma & BO/taxis.

Abu Dhabi; scent of sheep/goats/goat slaughter , next to the Water & Electricity Club:D

Abu Dhabi; the scent or feeling of a scent that greets you when you catch a whiff of humidity and dust.

agree with yours - I always think of Dubai when I smell your typical lemon floor cleaner - when we first got here the hotel apartment corridors always had that fragrance - even our current building corridors have that smell... anyway...

That and Bank Street always had a hot / dusty / humid smell in Sept / Oct that was pleasant in a way and reminded you just how far from the UK you were! (in a good way)

Speaking of which, has anyone else who has used the Dubai Marina Mall carpark (particularly the level you access from SZR) noticed that pungent smell of shit in the air?

I always think this stuff pretty much sums it up for me. Mrs Millhouse has some - nice stuff.

And for AD - I'd go for the smokey smells of those burning rock things outside the shops. Love that too.

It's that or the smell of the 'Ally Pally' - smoke, chip-fat and beer. Fanny-tastic.

Kitty litter boxes.

On hot nights and when the wind was blowing in the right direction, if you walked past empty lots in Jumeira or Umm Sq. you caught the distinctive odour of kitty litter boxes.

that'd be Urea breaking down into ammonia so that high quality speed hasn't been mixed properly as there is too high an ammonia content left after reacting.

Just saying

Oud is a resinous wood, used to make perfumes. It can also be burned, but the small rocks referred to by someone earlier were probably Frankinsense. That is largely harvested in Oman and burned to fragrance buildings.

For me, the smell of Dubai is an upside down SWB Patrol, with smoke billowing from the engine bay and a small man inside crying.
