Sausages in the UAE
To date, every sausage I've eaten here tasted, well, just wrong. I long for a pack of Sainsbury value sausages if only it meant something that matches my pallette.
Are there any recommended brands here that are at least close to the real thing? Not like an alien race discovering our long dead civilisation and trying their hand at a cookery book written by an illiterate? |
Re: Sausages in the UAE
Park n shop for fresh unless you like the frozen that Spinneys etc. sell.

Re: Sausages in the UAE
I know spinneys. Expensive but familiar tasting stuff. I'll ask about the other place.

Beef things so lean if you fry them they end up like charred peperami. You can stick them in a casserole to hydrate them somewhat. Pizza? Don't get me started on that. It's thick bread base, a Frisbees worth of cheese with toppings randomly placed on it that look worse than my home made Valentines Day card. What's the point if paying a premium for home looking goods that don't have the taste or texture of them? I'll go to spinneys and get the richmonds but I fear disappointment will be the end result |
Re: Sausages in the UAE
A sausage without pork is ...crap. Just like beef and turkey bacon...crap.
I have NEVER found a sausage that tastes good in the Middle East. |
Re: Sausages in the UAE
There is one brand of Turkey bacon that's actually very acceptable. Comes in a dark cardboard outer packet, forget the brand name. In a bun with tomato, lettuce and HP sauce the difference is little I end up not missing bacon in the Kingdom.

I have a reasonable tolerance level when it comes to 'DISGUSTING' but I nearly threw up the first (and only) time I tried 'chicken sausages'............

Re: Sausages in the UAE
Managed to get some Cumberland sausages in Spinneys. Were next to the richmonds. I thought a bit of spontaneity was in order.
Chef has orders to cook and then slice them for butties in the morning. I had to be firm. She was waving a bloodied finger at me earlier from slicing, then cooking this mornings breakfast..... |
Re: Sausages in the UAE
