Living in Norway, I must say, the people are quite impressive on this matter. As much as a disgusting individual he is, he barely makes the news these days. He might even be let out, in theory. But then again, Norway has one of the lowest rates of re-offending criminals in Europe, quite possibly the world. Crime rates are generally low, Breivik alone killed almost twice the amount of people killed intentionally in the country as a whole per year. Prison populations are quite low as well. Interestingly, more reported crimes than Saudi, but this case perhaps goes some way to explain what goes as a crime in Saudi...

Just Like many Third World countries KSA is a country well ridden with corruptions. Having said that I am still quite dubious about this whole story since all the accounts are coming only from 'activists'. Quran clearly states the old famous rule 'Eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth' and warns against selectively applying this rule (something quite so often happens in KSA).

If it is true what this guy has done then make no mistake about it, the Islamic ruling would be death, the same kind of justice in the USA courts, but unfortunately not quite so in the European courts. That's why there are many child serial killers still breathing fresh air in 3 star Europe prisons.

Most Saudis and most Muslims are, I am sure, as horrified as we are. The reality is that in KSA you cannot just say what you think !

My contacts tell me the story was not widely reported in the Arabic language media.

I find the 'eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth' an antiquated and barbaric idea. This thread is interesting, as it shows alot of the posters who share a very worrisome similarity to the most brutal aspects of a barbaric ideology currently trying to expand it's influence on a global scale. Would any of them attend one of the decapitations performed in public in KSA or Iran if they could? I'd rather not have that in Europe, if anything, the justice system and view of crime and punishment is truly one of the things which makes me proud to be associated with European culture and civilization. Punishment, including death, does not rid the world of crime..nor does a soft approach to punishment and eventual reintegration back into society create more crime. Countries with low crime rates tend to be generally equal societies, which perhaps explains why Britain has so much of it compared to other northern european countries.
