I arrived in the Kingdom in December last year, with full intentions to settle and bring my family here as soon as possible.

Three months down the line, I am relatively settled however the bringing family over (wife and daughter) I decided there is no way I am doing that.

Why?

I have never lived/been to Saudi but I do hear the horror stories

What is it really like?

The compound life is good for woman and Jeddah is relaxed compared to the other city's (so I've heard) but still it is Saudi, nothing is easy here.

A simple example I needed to get a script for BP medication, simple right/ hell f&cking no I was in the hospital for 8 hours on a Saturday, because all of a sudden I had to go for blood tests etc.

The driving sucks, everyday I Feel like I am doing a stunt show driving to the office and back, patience is nonexistent and its clear that the Saudi nation looks down on other nationalities including westerners.

Disagree with that, I find life here very relaxed and laid back. Workload is light. Saudis are okay. You might be surprised at how much they will go out of their way to help you one day.

You've only been here a few months in the most relaxed city. Not sure how you'd last in other places.

As for the driving, you get used to it, and strangely enough, even start to enjoy it!
My wife tells me off for doing Saudi manoeuvres now whilst on holiday in other countries.

I lasted in Nigeria for a very long time, so lets not judge each other on how long we can handle any one place, didn't realize it is a competition.

You are correct I have only been here a couple of months so maybe far to soon to make a call on the lovely country.

Do have yourself a nice day

Wasn't judging you. Just pointing out that it's too early to really make judgements, or get a proper feel for a place.

By other places, I meant other places in Saudi. No reference to other countries.
