Is Satwa being knocked down again?

Left Dubai nearly 2 years ago, but some idle musing about Ravi's led me to a TripAdvisor photo taken in January this year that shows that one of the Ravi buildings has been demolished. It's the bakery that was to the right of the main restaurant building.

Anyone know anything about this? Not a portent that it's all going, is it?

Haven't been to Ravi's for a few months but there were a few on that side of the street in Satwa that were getting smashed I think.

To be honest, it was mainly the really shit looking, about to fall down anyway types, rather than swathes. Most were far apart too.

Someone else might know more but looked like it was needed for those that were empty.

Didn't Ravi's go up in flames?

TBH it has to be the most over rated curry house in Dubai. There are plenty of better quality and value for money establishments in Bur Dubai. Could never understand the hype around Ravi's. Small average curries for more dibs than their competitors.

I like it, the chicken handi is good, there's a car park across the road and it doesn't come with e-coli.

It is actually on the tourist tours list now, I have not been for ages but used to go with our Pakistani driver, good cheap food

Ravi's okra curry and haleem is the best.

Okra (Lady's Fingers) are an awesome indian veg curry, when made right, and Ravi's makes an awesome one.
Err how else would you eat Okra??

Why would you choose okra over meat?
I made a veggie chilli once and whilst it was nice enough, it wasn't the same.

Okra = slimy, urghhh.

If I had to go veggie, paneer every time.
Mind you, any meat dish would have to be boneless, unless it was tandoori chicken.

Well said, butter chicken after a night out on the piss was de rigeur - although that was in the days before the Marina really existed.
