Salik
 
I have sold the car so now what do I do about Salik? do I just contact them and cancel the exisiting one? take it of windscreen? let new owners get their own?

You send an email to salik ([email protected]) with your Salik Account number and ask to cancel your Salik.

They will send you an email and request that you send a scanned copy of your UAE driving licence (for confirmation) and will then send you cancellation request to the "concerned department". They will also give you a 6-digit "request number", which you can use to get back any monies in your account.

Your query prompted me to get my Salik account money back which I'd forgotten to do !

Well, I didn't get back my Salik money (AED154.00) ! :frown:

Thank you for your e-mail.

According to RTA policy, the amount avail in the account cannot be refunded and would always remain in the account.

The avail balance would remain in the account unused; in future when a new vehicle is purchased under the same Registered Owner's name the balance can be used.

I cancelled my Salik at the car registration centre, fortunately there was only 8 dhs left on the account. Interestingly enough they can't open a new account there you have to walk next door to the Garage ...:rolleyes:
