Do you mean the Marines Club at Seaview Hotel where Golden Stars are currently the resident Filipino rock band and have been for some time?

What are Golden Stars like? Same as RockSpiders, rock covers?

Yes, they do Zeppelin, Purple, Hendrix and all the classics. You can find them on You Tube. They are absolutely brilliant with one particular girl a beast on the guitar. Well worth a night out.:thumbsup:

Yep and she also plays the bass and drums, but not at the same time. Her piercings are awesome too.

The Rock Spiders played in the York years ago in the bar downstairs that was hooker free. They moved to the Music Room when the Majestic opened and are now in the Howard Johnson on Mankhool Road if google and facebook are to be believed. Next time I stay in Bur Dubai I may go and check them out.

A completely different band to the one in the Marines Club which is in the supremely dodgy Seaview Hotel on Mina Road.

Her name is Cherie - been there for at least eight years. Wasted talent in that place really...always worth poping in to see them do a set (and then leave before the hookers swarm in).

Maybe the name is wrong. But the group that was at the Seaview a couple of years back, and had been there for 3 years. Crazy bass playing bird who was a bit androgynous.

That's the group I mean, played rock very well, 4 filipino girl singers at the front.

They're the ones at the Mariners (Seaview) now. Best band I've seen in the UAE, bar none.

As do I. Guess we all just called it Mariners and were usually too pissed to read what it says on the door.

We used to go through the main reception and to the left, through that door, the VIP entrance so to speak, no queuing outside.
