Default Robust VPN wanted

I'd appreciate if someone here would send me a PM with the details of a reliable VPN provider that I can use with multiple devices. I've been using my existing VPN provider for 3 years and I'm tired of the drop-outs and slow speeds which often make it impossible to stream live tv from BBC iplayer etc.

Thanks in anticipation.

Rod.

I use <snip> which never normally gives me problems. Can watch things fine streaming and doesn't drop off. It is majorly restrictive on speed though

Oh, yes, I certainly did, did not know that stating specific names was a no-no either. Apologies.

Being less obvious about the name is okay, or pm'ing. It's just being to open about them gets them blocked and/or more hassle for people then to sign up for in this neck of the woods

Resurrecting this thread.

Can someone pm me the names of decent vpn's for use in Dubai, with enough stable bandwidth to stream iplayer/etc. Friend needs one here.

The one I use is a bit flaky (but cheap) and he doesn't want to mess around so needs a good service that's cross device and not Mac code specific.

Look into Smart DNS settings too - means you can still access iPlayer etc., but without any bandwidth reduction as through a VPN.

Ditto, I have noticed that it slows down my 50mb quite a lot though. It was excellent when I only had 2/3 mb.

www.speedtest.net is an interesting way to test your connection to different servers in different countries. Both with and without your vpn engaged to get an idea of performance. I see significant changes depending on time of day.

The DNS idea will result in less slowdown but my understanding is that it has no encryption so whilst it might not prevent you from viewing certain sites others could potentially see what you are looking at. That might, or might not, be a problem for the person doing so.

I need to connect to UK though for most of my online shit. Iplayers, Netflix and skygo all require UK connection.

So you need to test with servers in UK. I think there are a few on the speedtest site. Compare over that route with and without VPN.

Yeah, with iPlayer it's hit and miss.

Never bother with 4OD or ITVPlayer because it's never been good with them. However, with Netflix it's ****ing brilliant.

ALSO: top tip, go onto one of the USandA servers, Netflix is completely different with different shows / films etc. Same login, just with different 'location'.
