Road to Hatta

Going for lunch at Hatta on Friday and would like to avoid the check point queue before you get to Hatta. Understand you can drive through the mountains from the Madam Roundabout and come out just after Hatta Fort. Has anyone done it, know how long it takes and is it worth it?

friend of mine did it a few weeks back, I did the check point way, took her about 30 minutes longer than me.

my mate did it ( the gps took him that way ) I beat him by quite a way, no hold ups at the checkpoints
