Quite frankly I had never heard of the poor fellow until he died. I had always assumed that Fools and Horses was written by the same guys who wrote Dads Army and Are You Being Served. Although he was obviously a great comedy writer, I sincerely doubt that the series would have been a major success without the expertise of David Jason. His sense of timing has always been brilliant. I hear he is about to start in a new comedy series at the ripe old age of seventy something.

Yes, I see that David Jason was so influenced by the genius of Ronnie Barker (felt gutted when he died!). Their careers have been amazing. Porridge comedy scripts are tremendous to read if anyone is interested. :D

Dad's Army was written by Croft and Perry (or something) and was nowhere near as funny as OFAH. Hadn't realised Sullivan also wrote 'Citizen Smith'..........

Yes, I used to think it was Nicholas Lyndhurst singing - it does sound a but like him. :)

I wouldn't have believed this, I was convinced it was Nicholas Lyndhurst singing but I caught an episode last night and you're right, John Sullivan did sing it.

Yeah, you live and learn, as they say. Really miss my Porridge repeats which I can't access here and I'm buggered if I going to buy them. :)
