I saw the quotes of £40m quid for charity. Can't really say much bad about someone who achieves that, so fair play to him.

I'll always remember him because thanks to Jim'll Fix It I know how they get boats in bottles.

R.I.P Jimmy
You have a wealth of experience Patsy- and I can't believe you share it with some of the bird brains here. You know, punks like Scamp and Bahtaboy.......they are clearly beneath you and have little or nothing interesting to say.

Of course you haven't heard of him- you're American. Jimmy was one of Englands quirky and fabulous eccentrics who I am sure most Brits have a soft spot for as more or less everyone has grown up with him. My childhood was spent watching him on Saturday nights and I may have also written to him to see if he could 'Fix it for me" (his tv show). A true national treasure. Show respect where respect is due my friend

Not all of us have a soft spot for him. Credit for raising a lot of money for charity, but there are plenty of skeletons in his closet, sadly.

Always had that impression but didn't know if it was just rumour?

Had several run ins with the Old Bill when he worked as a bouncer. One of his favourite tricks was too tie miscreants up and beat the crap out of them.

Perhaps his charity work was atonement for past deeds.

There was a scurrilous transcript of out-takes from a Have I Got News For You episode that was doing the rounds a few years ago, which has since been discredited as fake by the cast and production team, and endless speculative nudge-nudge pieces by the gutter press. Nothing concrete though.

Why are so many Yorkshireman eccentric?

There were some very strange rumours doing the rounds at the BBC a few years ago about him.
