Helluva good guy, a real unsung gem of a bloke who did a lot for others without the lime light. Sadly missed

Clunk-clip
Every trip!

I dare say there a quite a few on here who can remember Sir Jim's charity fund raising for Stoke-Mandeville spine hospital?
I guess there are quite a few guys and galls (*sorry*...) in green in Iraq and Afgahnistan who are grateful to his charitable efforts.

Sorry to hear Jimmy Saville has gone, he was a tireless charity worker, and brought happiness to many.

Mad as a box of frogs though, and some questions about his lifestyle that were never fully explained. I read a comment from his next door neighbour that was very odd:

"He kept his dead mothers clothes in the wardrobe, one of his many quirks. Another one would be telling my mum that he'd enjoyed her performance in a porn movie. I hope to god he was either joking or mistaken"

He also said:

"I've been Jimmys next door neighbour for the past few years.. Regardless of what might be said about him, he was a really charming and interesting guy who had time for everyone. RIP Jimmy!"

You sound a bit like the gutter snipe press who comment regularly( every 15 mins on Sky News) along the lines :

'He never said a bad word about anyone..'
'We can't find anything negative in life or about his personality.'
'He never married'
His mother was the most important person in his life'
'He was platinum blonde'

Oooh but I bet they tried, I bet they looked for the flaw to sell some copy.
A.holes.

Anyone bothered to cover
(1)
Exactly how much he earned for Stoke Mandeville
or
(2)That he may have been albino...

Is that too much like real life?
I do agree with you on one point.. RIP Jimmy.
I'll attempt to chug my way thru' a Partagas with my espresso after dinner tonite in your memory.Sleep well.

It seems Jim raised somewhere between £35 million and £40 million.

If you do that , you're allowed a few quirks in the machine....

If he worked selflessly for other people and raised that sort of cash,it should be mentioned somewhere in the red tops or tabloids' testimonials to his life.
That doesn't sell so much though does it?

At the risk of sounding like Weaselcentral's tit grabbing grandpa,
I 'd just like to say- there was a time when they used to...they were called Iskra then.

"When Louis Theroux met Jimmy Saville" was thoroughly depressing and left me with the impression that he was creepy. It seems if someone does great charity work, you are not allowed to feel anything but respect...

Theroux has written, with obvious affection, about Jimmy on his blog. http://louistheroux.com/blog/?p=63
