Reporting in without any enthusiasm

I have just finished a 4500 word report, on a very
dull subject, for a bunch of dullards who wil disregard it, and for what? Oh! we'll get a report for you on that!
A load of shit for a bunch of shits. Welcome to modern management.

It is the great favourite of me, too, a Semi-Scot in exile of Fife.

I spent three days last week doing some pre-lim research and reporting on something.....only to be told today that it was a massive waste of time, project isn't signed off and that when they said it was live, they were telling porkies.

It was like having my bollocks tickled when they told / asked me for it.

Then like having them bitten this morning.

Still, it wasn't 4,500 words long!

Is the project likely to go ahead in the future?

Fingers crossed. Just been delayed a bit. Might only be a few weeks, but we'll see.

Fortunately the work is never completely wasted, I've got a promotion in the pipeline and this would have massively helped.

Still, could be worse!

Normal run of the course for me - Only about 20-30% of our projects succeed.

Indeed. But I'm sure if you had the right people you'd increase that percentage....

Actually, not really. This is a trend we see across the business in all regions.

Millhouse's most boring post ever.

Unless that is some SERIOUSLY veiled sarcasm?

I am not entirely suprised. The amount of times I've been involved with situations like that, only for them to fizzle out like a damp sparkler now numners many multiples of ten! At the end of it, I'm always left thinking * Which bellend came up with this bloody silly idea, and which bloody silly commitee thought it would fly?*
