The simple ( and true ) answer to this , is that no-one ever gets to sample your own reality, so therefore never really sees the 'real you'.
We have a shared reality with our partners and then an expected reality with the people that we work with / socialise with, but no-one ever ever gets to know how we think, therefore they can never sample our reality.
This is little different though in putting on a facade / mask. I would say that I am quite flexible in my 'behaviour' and can generally adapt quite well to the situation in order to fit in with the surroundings. I do not think this is about acting or putting on a front,I see this more about responding to the diversity of people around me.
