Ramadan to start on 11th August

How on Earth do you stop yourself thinking about it when you 'discover' yourself thinking about it.
Even doing a task, such a making a tea, would make me think ... I'm doing this so I don't think about sex... Dammit.

It's as logical as any other reason.

Still, 14-15 hours fasting can't be easy. My mate in the UK was moaning as it's nearly 18 hours for them.

The assumptions about what fasting entails is funny but not based on fact though.
Of course, if you are eating so much until the day before, you'll struggle and complain but it should be a gradual reduction in your intake until it begins and when you break the fast, again, a gradual intake, some dates, which are very filling even when not fasting, water, juices and then something to eat.
I am assuming many people have not fasted before like we do.
It just goes to show that people are so engrossed with sex and food that little else matters hence the surprise that we have to abstain from them during the fast itself.
No, I am not defending Arabs or any Muslim who chooses not to adhere to the teachings and live a life of excess.
With regards to thoughts, as long as they're thoughts, it's not a problem. With an empty stomach, you are suppressing your carnal desires for a little while which should make you less likely to want to argue, quibble and worry about other things for a while.
Try a fast and I'd love to know how you feel.
Yes, as time continues, people do tend to lose the actual value as it has become heavily commercialised though. Would love to invite some of you round for some iftari one day for a nice chat after...

So what you are saying is that when you are not hungry mostly you are daydreaming about sex? You might have been born the wrong gender Meow .

My OH is being sent to Saudi on the 20th of this month and not looking forward to it at all. He was somewhere else last year at Ramadan time and even though it was only for a week he suffered during the working day.
He told his Italian bosses that he'd like a bit extra in his wage packet but they were not amused. Italians rarely are.

Not sure. They (translates as bastardo bosses) haven't booked him a return flight. At least with a Lufthansa premium card or whatever he's got he can get himself on a flight fairly quickly. At the moment he's miles out of San Francisco.
