Ramadan seems to be more laid back this year. It's telling both big malls have whole food courts open during Ramadan hours.

As Ramadan inches towards the prime tourist seasons expect more and more places to remain open, methinks.

perhaps the powers that be have finally realised that the quran does not stipulate no food availability just abstinance from it and that if you want tourists you have to be flexible.

We met a couple from Australia on their way here from venice who had no idea it was ramadan and seemed to have little interest in adhering to any restrictions anyway. Such is the natuire of the package tourist who brings in much needed cash
