hhmm could be an intersting week
http://in.reuters.com/article/idINIndia-49290820100614

http://www.aljazeerah.info/News%20ar...20decision.htm

"In unfamiliar scenes to this conservative emirate, hundreds of locals marched Saturday from the dethroned heir Sheikh Khalid's palace to his father's residence, chanting they would only accept Khalid as crown prince.

They tried to storm the ruler's palace, but were prevented by police and army units.

On Monday, roads leading to Sheikh Khalid's palace were barricaded and army tanks kept cars and passers-by at bay"

The millitary are outside the palace now. Roads are gridlocked. We have closed. It's going to be an interesting few days.

I wonder if that is why the military jets have been screaming up and down the coast the last couple days?

So far it looks like all the weekend festivities are being canceled one by one.

from the link...
Senior Gulf leaders were thought to be trying to negotiate a peaceful departure for Sheikh Khalid, but sources indicated he might have to be "made to leave one way or another" if he did not go quietly.
Sheikh Khalid was Crown Prince for much of the reign of his father, who came to power in 1948 and at his death at the age of 92 was the last remaining of the seven local rulers who founded the UAE in the early 1970s.
After he was deposed he went into exile and mounted a sometimes eccentric campaign to regain his position from New York and London.
He hired a British lawyer, Peter Cathcart, usually a family solicitor based in Uxbridge; a Californian public relations firm; and a Washington lobbyist to press his case.
Key to his argument was a claim that his brother was developing close relations with Iran, allowing his emirate to be used as a smuggling route.
