You could make this into a great scientific paper Ethos where you “research” washing methods and process optimisation . I’m pretty sure this is how women can identify the marital status of a man:
Smells like fabric softener = married,
Smells like washing powder = single,
Smells like a dirty socks = separated for a while,
Smells perfumed = gay.

washing powder is overrated.

it's not even necessary
we can't even convince ourselves something's clean unless it smells like a pine forest or tropical jungle or whatever bullcrap it is.

Go on, I dare you... go in to work smelling like a field of cows!

You can, of course, if you are ecologically-minded get some Eco-Balls [snigger] which will somehow wash your stuff without detergent.

Usually the fist slot is for detergent for a pre wash, the second also for detergent for the main wash and the third for fabric conditioner.

The fabric conditioner is supposed to make the clothes softer and smell nice, but as the water is so hard here, it doesn't really make them soft. Comfort is what I usually get.

Stain remover, get a spray one, that you apply before the wash, then throw in with the rest of your laundry.
I read thru twice and was amazed that noone picked up on Graces unusual proclivity as a bull dyke...!!!

I have another word for a fist slot...!!!

It's got the enzymes that break down oils though?

This is very possibly the funniest thread I have read, How old are you Ethos? And where have you been doing your washing up til now? Or are you a bit of a tramp? I have so many questions as to how you have got through life to date.....
