Qatar to impose income tax

No mention of how much it will be. But wonder if it will set a precedent other gulf nations will follow.

Part of the attraction of the UAE is that we pay no corp or personal tax, but I do wonder what the UAE will do when it realizes that Dubai and most of the non-oil business does not pay its way. Originally the idea was that you encourage people in and that creates demand for housing. You then sell worthless desert to mugs for ever increasing amounts of money to build ever smaller and pokier apartments on.

But the game is up on that one now. Dubai must surely make a net loss based on my and my company's contribution to their coffers. So it can only be a matter of time before they realize and decide they want more from us.

Yep, no income tax planned for individuals, only for companies.

Who cares what Dubai thinks?...the UAE government in Abu Dhabi is rolling in cash - it will be a while before they even think of this.

And can you imagine the chaos if/when they do introduce such a thing? ;)
